01 / Challenge

Challenge

A news platform changes constantly. New stories need to appear quickly, older stories still need to remain discoverable, and growing amounts of content cannot make navigation confusing. The main challenge was designing a system where content could be published and organized dynamically while maintaining a consistent frontend. Search, categories, article pages and homepage content all needed to work from the same underlying data instead of being maintained independently.

02 / What I built

What I built

I developed the platform as a full-stack Flask application with dynamic article pages and database-backed content. The reader experience includes categorized news, breaking and recent stories, article search and structured individual story pages. I also implemented the supporting backend logic needed to retrieve, organize and present content dynamically rather than hard-coding articles into the interface. The result is a publishing system where new content can be added without rebuilding the website itself.

03 / Experience

Experience

The interface was designed around reading and discovery. Headlines and current stories receive the strongest visual priority, while categories and supporting information make it easy to move deeper into the publication. I kept the layouts responsive so that the hierarchy remains clear on smaller screens, where news websites can easily become crowded. Reusable components also keep article presentation consistent as the amount of published content grows.

04 / Engineering

Engineering

The application uses Python and Flask for backend routing and application logic, Jinja2 for server-rendered interfaces, and PostgreSQL for persistent structured data. I separated content from presentation so that articles, categories and other publishing data can be retrieved dynamically and rendered through reusable templates. The project also gave me practical experience working with database-driven applications, authentication, search, responsive interfaces and production deployment.

05 / Result

Result

The finished product is a deployed, database-driven publishing platform rather than a static news-site prototype. It provides a foundation that can continue growing as more articles and categories are published, while keeping content management separate from the reader-facing interface. For me, the project was an opportunity to apply full-stack development to a content-heavy application where information changes continuously.
